Bubbalicious
Social Network
The Concept
Bubbalicious is a social network aimed specifically at teenage and young parents. This age group of parents are most at risk of losing their child to cot death and other such dangers. The website is funded by the Foundation for the Study of Infant Death charity and sets out to reduce these risks by providing a method of educating young parents via a medium in which they feel comfortable. I headed up the Development team at Neoco on this project.
The Technology
The website is built using PHP and MySQL, and makes use of a bespoke Content Management System to allow non-technical users to manage the system. The site is built over a distributed architecture which, along with integration into a Content Distribution Network, allows the website to cope with large spikes in traffic caused by appearances on news programs such as BBC Breakfast and ITV's This Morning.
